I’ve been toying around with a vocation for five years now, and came very close to joinin the Capuchins in 2007. I was deferred, then, and went into a sort of tailspin. I’ve written about all that in the past, but I have been reluctant to consider a vocation since then.
The Papal Mass closing out WYD 2008 in Sydney ended at, I believe, around 1:00 AM Eastern time Sunday, if I did the math right.
At around 1:10, I remembered why I thought I had a vocation. Wasn’t everyone praying for vocations?
I’m back from a weekend jaunt with my sister to my mom’s house. I don’t see my mom enough, as she lives a good two hours from me and I don’t have a car, so it was a rare treat to spend some time with her. My sister brought gifts from her trip to Hong Kong, and I spent most of the night fixing my mom’s virus and spyware-ridden laptop. She has an amazing ability to let computers go to hell. But I love her anyway. And I owed her, anyway; I’ve been out of work since February, and lost my briefly-held job as a voter-registration canvasser, so I’m pretty much flat broke. My mom, in her brilliant and holy generosity, bought be a week’s worth of groceries. So I’m sitting pretty, eh? I have more ground beef than I know what to do with.
That said, I am often baffled by the search terms that lead people to this site. Not that I’m surprised that they led here — more that they were being searched at all. Like “‘human sexuality’ knightwolf” — what could they have possibly been looking for?
This, by the way, is the Knightwolf. He’ is, by far, the best of the Power Rangers villains. Brutal and powerful, he bested the Mystic Rangers time and again, only to refuse, each time, to kill them. What was his reasoning? Often “there is no honor in killing you when you are this weak” — a level to which he himself had brought them. Every time Koragg the Knightwolf came on screen, you knew bewilderment would follow.
In the end, it turned out he was really Leanbow, the brainwashed, amnesiac father of the Red Mystic Ranger, husband of White Mystic Ranger Udonna, and refused to kill him for a primal memory of that. I know its simplistic, but that’s damn complex for Power Rangerss and the “mystery” — which we all saw coming — stretched out the entire season, which proved the most effective and dramatic season in the history of PR.
